The Technical Professional of the Year Award
The Technical Professional of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding Technical professional who has demonstrated exceptional contributions toward the advancement in the public safety community.
Nomination Criteria
Nominees must have been employed in the applicable category by a public safety or 9-1-1 administrative entity any time between January 1 and December 31 of the prior calendar year. Must have experience working in a technical field related to 9-1-1 within their agency. Membership is encouraged, however nominees do not have to be members of NENA to participate. Persons submitting a nomination or being nominated must be residents on Texas.

Qualities:

The person should be known for their excellent work in the 9-1-1 technical field.

The person should have made efforts to share the wisdom of their knowledge to help other 9-1-1 professionals.

Have demonstrated dedication, leadership, and commitment to the advancement, promotion, and development of technology in the public safety community.

May prepare GIS-based maps, graphs and other data for the department or other agencies by building and creating various maps using GIS data; incorporating GIS edits into other files; manipulating and analyzing data to produce desired reports, maps, or graphs; ensuring GIS data is maintained and updated; and helping maintain departmental GIS.

Provides technical assistance to staff and others as needed by assisting with training on technology; finding answers to software, programming, and conceptual questions; and converting and downloading geographical files and attributes.
