Mike Aurora, ENP
Central Regional Coordinator | Texas NENA
9-1-1 Technologies Project Manager
CAPCOG/CAECD
Mike has started 14th year in the 9-1-1 industry this year. Mike started in 9-1-1 working at San Marcos 9-1-1; first as a Telecommunications Operator and then as a 9-1-1 Shift Supervisor. He left the headset life in 2020 and started his next chapter of 9-1-1 with the Capital Area Council of Governments in Austin as a 9-1-1 Telecommunications Coordinator for the Capital Area Emergency Communications District. After a little over a year, Mike moved into 9-1-1 Technologies Projects where he works with the 28 PSAPs in the CAPCOG region.
Mike has also served on the Texas APCO/NENA Public Safety Conference Committee for 5 years. He has served as the Chair for the Sponsorship Committee, Conference Co-Chair, and this last year as the Conference Chair. As an attendee for several years before serving on the Conference Committee, Mike felt it was a rewarding experience being able to see and interact with so many 9-1-1 professionals who had come together in one place. In 2024 Mike will be assisting in the Texas APCO/NENA Public Safety Conference Website.
In Mike’s downtime, he enjoys spending time covered in sawdust working on different types of woodworking projects. Woodworking started as a stress relief hobby for 9-1-1 but quickly became a way of life as well as a great outlet for Mike’s creativity. When Mike is not covered in sawdust, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys. The Aurora’s enjoy watching anything Star Wars, action/superheroes, and animated movies. Mike and his boys enjoy playing video games and the whole family loves just relaxing around the house.
Mike is so grateful for the opportunity to represent the Central Region of Texas on the Texas NENA board for another year. Mike looks forward to getting the opportunity to get to know so many more of the 9-1-1 professionals throughout his Region as well as Texas, and he hopes to keep Texas as a shining example of what our profession is capable of and should be. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Mike with questions, as well as anything that helps bring attention to our Region or just to say hi. This is the way!
