Sarah Elfers
Secretary | Texas NENA
Team Leader
Brazos County 9-1-1 District
Sarah began her dispatching career with the Brazos County 9-1-1 District in 2021. Since then, she has excelled in the field and advanced to a leadership role as Team Lead and Trainer. Her additional responsibilities include creating bereavement cards for agencies that experience a loss, producing the Brazos County 9-1-1 District's quarterly newsletter, helping with the planning of NPSTW, serving on the policy committee, and assisting with public education. She also has training in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and mental health first aid.
Outside of her duties within her agency Sarah is a member of TX-TERT and has been selected to join the Women in 9-1-1 Alliance’s Communication Committee.
After a major loss in her life, Sarah began training and volunteering with multiple disaster relief organizations and even attended the Bryan FD Citizen Academy where she got her first inside look at 9-1-1 dispatching and emergency services. This was the beginning of the inspiration that led her to pursue a career serving her community through dispatching. Before joining 9-1-1, Sarah had a career in I.T. and website development which has helped her excel in her efficiency as an emergency dispatcher. Sarah has also served as the Membership Team Lead for the greater Brazos County area while working for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. This role required her to elevate her skills in conflict resolution, develop recruitment plans, and train both adults and youth in various categories. Sarah has a long history of serving her community outside of work by being involved with various planning and policy committees for other local nonprofits and continues to strive for excellence in all her endeavors.
Sarah’s Future goals in emergency dispatch include working towards her ENP certification, advancing her work in CISM and Peer Support, and to develop a Wellness program within her agency.
